History & origin
Mabuza is an Nguni clan name found chiefly among the Swazi (and among Zulu and Ndebele-speakers of the Mpumalanga/Eswatini border region). The Mabuza are counted among the recognised Swazi clans associated with the Dlamini kingdom; oral tradition links the clan to the royal Dlamini house and remembers Mabuza ancestors being stationed as border guards/buffer against the Zulu during the reigns of the powerful 19th-century Swazi kings. Mabuza families are widely distributed across Eswatini, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal, reflecting migration and intermarriage among Swazi, Zulu and Ndebele communities. The name is carried with its own izithakazelo (in which the address Ludvonga features prominently).
