Mamba is one of the bemdzabuko ('true Swazi') clans counted among the original clans that accompanied the Dlamini kings during the formation of the Swazi nation. The clan is of Nguni descent and is one of the larger Swazi clans by population. It was historically associated with the eastern/lowveld areas of the kingdom and has long been one of the established commoner (non-royal) lineages integrated into the Dlamini state.
