History & origin
The Mndzebele are a Swazi clan with a documented connection to the royal house through marriage. Lomvula Mndzebele was the mother of King Ndvungunye (Zikodze), an early Swazi king of the late 18th century, and is recorded as having acted in a regency/queen-mother capacity following his death (c. 1815) during the rise of Sobhuza I. The clan is historically associated with the eastern Lubombo region, which was central to early Swazi settlement and state formation. This royal maternal link gives the Mndzebele an established place in Swazi dynastic history.
