Swati clan · siSwati

History & origin

Nsibandze is a Swazi clan counted among the emafikamuva (later-arriving clans) incorporated into the nation during its 18th- and 19th-century formation. The clan is closely tied to Swazi royal history through marriage and service to the Dlamini kings, and several Nsibandze figures held positions of high influence at court.

Notable figures & facts

Nsibandze was the father of Lojiba and Somnjalose Simelane, women who became prominent in the royal house; Lojiba served as Ndlovukati (queen mother) and regent in the period before Mswati II's accession. Mbaba Nsibandze was a senior royal adviser who died in 1898 during the reign of Ngwane V (Bhunu).
