History & origin
Ntimane is a clan of Tsonga (Vatsonga) origin, found in southern Mozambique, north-eastern South Africa and among the Tsonga-descended population of Eswatini. Oral tradition traces it through the Vadzonga grouping descended from the ancestor Khosa, whose line is said to have produced a cluster of related clans including Ntimane, Mavone, Masuluke, Mahlawule, Rikhotso and Sambo. It represents the Tsonga element within the wider Swazi nation rather than one of the Nguni founding clans.
