History & origin
Tshivhula is tied to Ha-Tshivhula, a settlement area in the far north of Venda near the Limpopo, around Musina/Mapungubwe. Documented Venda tradition records that the Vhalea and Vhatwamamba clans settled at Musina, Mapungubwe and Ha-Tshivhula — placing the Tshivhula name in the historic northern frontier zone associated with the Mapungubwe cultural landscape (the 13th-century kingdom regarded as ancestral to Venda identity). Beyond this geographic and settlement association I do not have further reliably documented clan-origin tradition.
We publish the full clan names (clan praises) only once we can verify them against documented tradition — for this clan they are still being confirmed. If you can share an authoritative version, corrections are warmly welcomed.
