Background
A widely used Sotho-Tswana proverb expressing gratitude and contentment, rooted in food-sharing culture where even a modest share is welcomed. It appears across Northern Sotho, Tswana and Southern Sotho with minor variants and is commonly taught and quoted.
How it is used
Said when accepting or offering a modest gift or amount, to teach gratitude and discourage looking down on small things or small help; also used to encourage someone not to refuse a little when more is unavailable.
